Charles Jones Pentecostal Research Files, "The Practical Value of Tongues"
Scope and Contents
The collection contains twelve manuscript boxes containing four hundred forty three folders of assorted articles, clippings, tracts, and correspondence that Charles Jones used for his research. The date of the collection spans from the 1960s to the late 1980s. Many of the articles discuss the issue of Glossolalia, the Charismatic Movement, spiritual gifts, Spirit baptism, classical Pentecostalism, and charismatic renewal in liturgical churches, mainly Lutherans and Presbyterians. The folders have been divided up roughly according to the author’s last name and are in descending order from box one to twelve.
The collection would be useful to scholars researching the Charismatic Movement not just in the Church of God but in other denominations, as well. There are also quite a few articles on spiritual gifts within Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic denominations.
