Margaret Gaines, drafts/notes/edits, undated
Scope and Contents
The materials here were part of Gaines’ research for this book. After speaking with
Gaines, she explained that much of the controversial topics were edited out by the publisher.
It is important to note that she had strong feelings about some of these topics therefore some
of the materials here can’t be found in the book. She believes in global warming and that her
belief opposes the mainstream Christians views on the subject.
One of her supporters, Mrs. Frieda Courson of Marietta, Georgia, frequently sent her
newspapers articles pertaining to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. The originals have been
photocopied and discarded. The majority of them are from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Gaines wrote letters to President George Bush, Vice-President Dick Cheney, Secretary of
State Colin Powell, National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice, Senator Patrick Leahy, and
Senator Richard Shelby asking for consideration before meeting with Israeli Prime Minister
Sharon in 2002.
The other correspondence was placed here because Gaines intentionally put them with
these materials and listed the senders by name. Most of them are emails from various peace
groups forwarded to her and there are some personal notes as well.
