adult male Tlingit moccasins, undated
Item — Box: AR0004-1, Object: 1, 2
Scope and Contents
This pair of adult moccasins are primarly made of soft, tanned animal hide. Around the ankle is a collar of light brown natural fur. Beneath the fur collar is an embellishment of fushcia and green felt. Colorful glass beadwork in the form of flowers cover the top of of the foot portion. Because these decorated with brown fur, these would likely be worn by a male. Tlingit beadwork is a means of expressing individual and group identity.
