Biographical / Historical
Tim Hill
Preacher, administrator, author, and prolific songwriter, Timothy M. Hill, originates from Levelland, Texas. Since 2016, he has served as the Presiding Bishop of the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). His sphere of influence is greater than the confines of the denomination making him a highly desired speaker at denominational and interdenominational conventions and conferences.
His ministry of music began at an early age; writing songs that were published in singing convention books. Being heavily influenced by Southern Gospel music, he has written more than two hundred songs which were sung by individuals as well as groups of notoriety. Songs such as, “He’s Still in the Fire,” “In the Midst of it All,” and “He’s on the Throne,” are just a sampling of his chart-topping, songwriting skills. He is affiliated with Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI), who represent and protect the works of songwriters, composers, and publishers.
Bishop Hill began preaching in 1977. In 1982, he entered the pastorate at Keller, Texas, serving until 1984. He also pastored the River Oak Church of God, Danville, Virginia from 1989 until 1996 at which time he became the Administrative Bishop of Oklahoma (1996-1999) and then Southern Ohio (1999-2004). Since 2004, Dr. Hill has served the general church as Secretary General (2004-2006); Second Assistant General Overseer: (2006-2008) First Assistant General Overseer (2008-2012); and World Missions Director (2012-2016).
As an author, he has published several works that are directed toward helping those in the pastorate. His six-volume work, Sermons for Shepherds, is a compilation of his own sermons. He also authored Life in the Exit Row, The Speed of Favor, Beyond the Mist, and The Amos Paradigm.
Bishop Hill is the son of the late Reverend John Hill and Mildred Hill. He is the husband of Paula Hill. They have three daughters, Melinda, Brittany, and Tara. They also have three grandchildren.
John Hill
John W. Hill (1928-2016) was a native of Texas. He became a credentialed minister with the Church of God in 1954. Soon after, he began evangelizing and pastored several churches (Denton, Arlington, Levelland, Fort Worth (Arlington Heights), Amarillo, Pampa, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth (Riverside), Vernon, Big Spring, and Graham. During his life, he preached more than 5,100 sermons resulting on 1,820 commitments to Christ. He was married to Mildred for 71 years. His children are Cathy, Gayle, Johnny, Helen, and Timothy.
Paula Hill
Since 2016, Paula Hill has served as the International President of Women’s Ministries with the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee). She has also served as State Women’s Ministry President. Working alongside with her husband, Timothy Hill, she served in churches in Keller, Texas and Danville, Virginia. She is also an in-demand speaker at women’s retreats, conferences, and conventions. The Hills have three daughters: Melinda, Brittany, and Tara. They also have three grandchildren.
