Paul Pitt collection
Scope and Contents
The Paul C. Pitt collection consists of personal and ministerial information, particularly of Pitt's ministry with the Bethany Mission in Shantung, China.
The bulk of the collection are working notes of a biography concerning the life and ministry of Pitt titled, Beloved of the Chinese, written by Peggy (Humphrey) Scarborough. Source notes from W. P. McCrae, Jennie Rushin, and John A. Abernathy are also included.

Biographical / Historical

Paul C. Pitt was born on September 25, 1882 in Germany, and later immigrated to Vancouver, British Colombia. He was married and had four children. After his conversion, his family labeled him as a “religious fanatic” and turned him out into the street. He was the minister at Bethany Mission in Shantung, China. Pitt passed away on September 22, 1943 and was buried in the misson cemetery in China.
