Biographical / Historical
Bishop Lynwood Sutton Sr. was born in Kinston, NC in 1948 and joined the military after graduating high school in 1966. Bishop Sutton served in the military for 21 years and earned the rank of Master Sergeant before he retired in 1988. In 1973, 48 days after her birth, Bishop Sutton and his wife went to church the day after their daughter's funeral service and they both got saved during an altar call. Bishop Sutton followed his call and became a minister of the Gospel at the Church of God Servicemen's Summer Campmeeting in 1975. In 1977 he came to New Jersey and was the associate pastor under Bishop Dr. Richard R. and Doris Worsley of the Long Branch Church of God for 17 years. He later became the pastor of Evangel Church of God in Boonton, New Jersey for 9 years. Bishop Sutton was then appointed pastor of the Faith Fellowship Church of God for 21 years until his death in 2023.
