For microfilmed collection:
The Church of God Court Records, Cleveland, Tennessee, 1919 – 1953, includes approximately six cubic feet of documents brought together from three different archive locations for microfilming. The three archives contributing to this collection are the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center in Cleveland, Tennessee, The History Branch and Archives of the Cleveland Public Library of Cleveland, Tennessee, and the Tennessee State Library and Archives of Nashville, Tennessee.
These records contain court records, financial reports, minutes, correspondence, form letters, petitions, printed materials, and postcards.
Bradley County Chancery Court, case file #1174, M.L. Beard, et al vs. A.J. Tomlinson, et al and documents from Bradley County Chancery Court, case files #1891 and #3445 are located at the History Branch and Archives of the Cleveland Public Library.
Depositions from Bradley County Chancery Court, case file #1891, The Church of God vs. The Tomlinson Church of God or The Church of God of Prophecy, Bradley County Chancery Court, and case file #3445, The Church of God vs. The Tomlinson Church of God, et al, and other pertinent documents are located at the Dixon Research Center at Lee University.
The proceedings of case file #1891 and #5548, heard at the Tennessee Supreme Court, Eastern Division, at Knoxville are located at the Tennessee State Library and Archives.
For M0021:
This collection at the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center contains all items attributed to it heretofore. It also reflects additions made through 2019, which include but are not limited to—
material formerly housed in M0015, the Tomlinson Family Collection; any material related to church litigation or handling of funds on A.J. Tomlinson’s part was moved to M0021 in June 2019;
all material from Vault Box 226;
donations made by Michael Edwards in 2014, 2017, and 2018;
processing of previously unprocessed accessioned material housed at the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center;
and processing of a use copy of official court records for patron use.
The microfilm collection, housed in M0021 Box 9, and its finding aid serve as an addendum to M0021 and are included in this finding aid as such.
